Any NEW student to BCS this year needs to go to their previous school and file drop papers in order to complete enrollment. If this is not done, a schedule cannot be made for the student at Beekman Charter School.
Congrats to the BCS Belles on receiving their bid to the NDA National Championship in Orlando! In addition to their National’s bid, they received an Excellent rating for their team performance, as well as several individual ribbons and awards including Savannah Cooper’s placement on the All-American Team plus Nikkia Lewis and Mi’Asia Davenport being recognized in the Pin-It-Forward program.
Each year high school students from around the state verge onto Louisiana Tech University's campus to display their prowess in STEM and liberal arts studies and compete in challenges that test their abilities in these subjects as well as their teamwork and time management skills. The week-long adventure and competition is known as Cyber Discovery Camp. During the week of May 30-June 4, 2016, Beekman Charter School sent four outgoing freshmen, Baylee Ewing, Eva Hosking, Alyssa McKenzie, and Riley Nobles, to compete in these challenges along with two teachers, Brandon Allred and Jennifer Ellingburg. The challenges encompassed a range of instructional areas such as essays focusing on the ethical and legal issues surrounding technology, robot golf and soccer, a cryptographic treasure hunt, a performance skit, a fort built with an architectural design program, and the final robotic competition where the robot collects as many marbles as possible and stores them in the fort. The Beekman quartet performed very well in each challenge, placing first in the cryptographic treasure hunt and the fort building competition. Ultimately their hard work and determination paid off as the Beekman students placed second in the week-long competition, beating out West Feliciana, Little Rock Central, St. Frederick's, and Plain Dealing. Throughout the week Baylee, Eva, Alyssa, and Riley discovered new skill sets and were introduced to a variety of career opportunities. Overall, they take away the second place title but, even more importantly, they bring back leadership and teamwork skills to Beekman Charter School.
Grade 4 - Fourth graders need to bring $35 the first day of school, and we will supply their needs all year.
